New Feature of the Berkeley Daily Planet

You are now able to look up current permit/zoning applications online via the Planet’s new interactive maps!  How handy.  It show the location, permit number (for further research at the City of Berkeley) and a brief description of what is being proposed.

What a good idea.

Metro Lighting Lock Out

In response to the cleaning method of a chemical filled drum used in the manufacturing process, workers walked out and were then were locked out by the store’s proprietors.

Slowly but surely, Google has begun to document the neighborhood.  Of course issues of privacy and security have been raised…..  In the meantime, here’s what the street views are starting to look like: Fourth Street, the skate park, PSC , Flint Ink, etc. 

 So if you see a van with a large camera on top slowly driving by…..

Re-zoning for Auto Sales in West Berkeley

To help accomodate Berkeley’s dwindling number of care dealerships (i.e. less and less sales tax revenue for the city), Berkeley is in the process of rezoning certain areas to allow for such businesses to take place.
