This Wednesday-Community meeting regarding Pacific Steel Casting

This meeting is being sponsered by the City of Berkeley.  Pacific Steel representatives will be present.  Click here to review the settlement agreement that will be one of the items discussed at the meeting.
The where and the when: West Berkeley Senior Center (1900 6th Street at Hearst) 7-8:30 pm on Wed. Feb. 15.

*In west Berkeley, there really is more to life than Pac Steel.  You just wouldn’t know it by looking at this blog.  Here’s hoping there will be some new subject matter in the near future.

Berkeley’s budget outlook is improving…

…and so is the air.

Click here to read a summary of yesterday’s state of Berkeley address given by Mayor Bates. I’m still a little hesitant to believe green house gases have been reduced by 14% in Berkeley. Maybe as a whole, but I don’t think that would hold true for west Berkeley.
Other articles related to reducing green house gases in Berkeley:

*I’m still not clear on how the City calculates the reduction, especially when the amount of bio-diesel used for city vehicles has gone up since they stopped using 100% bio-diesel earlier last year (see link to Phil Kamlarz update above). If I can find a better description of the figures and method they used to calculate this, I will post it. In the meantime, I’ll just have to wonder.
