Get on the Boat and Bring the Ferries Back!

If things go smoothly, an east bay ferry could be up and running in two years. Here are some links to the latest info on ferry service from Berkeley to SF:

Recent Crime: Robberies

Sept. 13 2005: Neighborhood Robbery on San Pablo.

Sept. 9 2005: This is something that happened on Wednesday Sept. 7 in the afternoon:

“Don’t know if this is of interest to you, but thought that I would try
and let our neighbors know that yesterday afternoon when we left to
walk the dog, someone broke into our house (walked around back and came in
through a window) and then stole our lap tops, our cell phones and our
car (parked in front of the house).

We live on 6th street (in b/w jones and page) and are fairly certain
that they had cased the place in advance and watched us all leave
together for a short dog walk.”

Keep your eyes peeled, and if you notice anything or anyone suspicious, take note.

Saving the Bay

Here is a wonderful example of how citizens and neighbors successfully took action to protect themselves and the environment. It is very common to see civilians pressure the local/state/federal governments to uphold the law (An on-going example of this can be seen with BAAQMD and Pacific Steel Casting). In the instance of these 3 women, they had to go so far as to make a case for legislative change. Today, we are all benefiting from their foresight.

Another West Berkeley Blog

This one eminates from south West Berkeley, in the Potter Creek area. Ron Penndorf’s almost daily postings give good insights to the goings-on of his neighborhood, and greater Berkeley. Posts relate to Berkeley politics, food, crime, development, neighbors, neighbor’s opinions, neighborhood business, environmental issues, and strong smells (imagine that!).
